Congregation Bayt Shalom |
Youth OrganizationsBayt Shalom has a youth group composed of young adults post Bar or Bat Mitzvah age. It is directed by the members with the assistance of two adult supervisors. All of the members of the youth group volunteer to assist the Hebrew School teachers on Sundays. They also plan all extra activities for the Sunday School children, including a model seder, Hanukkah party and Purim Carnival. They are involved in a variety of activities involving outreach to the greater Greenville community. In past years the group has participated in a Yom Hashoa reading, the Crop Walk and community wide clean ups. Recently, the synagogue was given a private grant for education and community outreach. The group organized a very successful trip to the Holocaust Museum in Richmond, Virginia. Each member of the youth group invited a non-Jewish friend. Bayt Shalom's youth group is not currrently affiliated with any movement of Jewish youth. The Congregation opens its doors to Jewish
students attending East Carolina University (ECU) and provides assistance to the
local Hillel chapter at ECU. |
