Religious School

The primary concern of the religious school is to help our children develop a healthy Jewish identity and to teach them to live Jewishly. We also want them to feel comfortable in the synagogue and in other Jewish aspects of life. Our program of instruction includes Hebrew language, Tefilot vocabulary for meaningful prayer during services, Torah, holidays, Israel, Jewish history and Jewish culture. Classroom activities also include singing and crafts appropriate to the subject of the day.

Religious school meets on Sunday mornings 9:30-noon. An additional session is conducted on Wednesdays 4:30-5:40 p.m. for those in fourth grade and above. We also hold special Jewish holiday celebrations.

The Rabbi serves as principal of the school. Each class is taught by the Rabbi or a dedicated volunteer teacher, often with the help of an assistant.

Bar and Bat Mitzvah Preparation

Initial plans and discussions are begun about a year before the Bar/Bat Mitzvah. (Guidelines and preparation information are detailed in our "Bar/Bat Mitzvah Manual".) The Rabbi provides children with special instruction as the date of the ceremony approaches.

Post Bar and Bat Mitzvah Education

Post B'nai Mitzvah classes are offered as a continuing education opportunity for the older children.
